India's Defence Policy aims at deterring exploitation of internal vulnerabilities by external forces: Pallam Raju

The Minister of State for Defence Shri MM Pallam Raju has said that one of the dimensions of the country's defence policy is to deter the exploitation by external forces of our internal vulnerabilities while we fashion a domestic political response, which draws on our democratic strengths. Rs. 1204.00 crores utilised for the year 2007-08 under Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns

The Ministry of Urban Development provided an outlay of Rs. 1204.00 crores for the year 2007-08 under Urban infrastructure Development Scheme for small and Medium Towns (UIDSSMT) Scheme. A number of proposals for release of Additional Central Assistance (ACA) against the aforesaid allocation, were received from State Governments, i.e. Rajasthan, Karnataka, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Punjab,Maharashtra, Kerala and West Bengal.  read more »

First 500 MW unit of NTPC Sipat project in Chhattisgarh reaches full load

The first 500 MW unit of NTPC’s giant power project at Sipat in Bilaspur district of Chattisgarh went on full load today, almost a full year after it was declared commissioned. It will go fully commercial in about three weeks time. Shri Jairam Ramesh, Minister of State for Commerce and Power was present, along with Shri R.S. Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC, Shri K. Ravikumar, Chairman and Managing Director of BHEL and local MPs and MLAs.
